News Updates

2023-09-28: The Board of Directors of Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District No. 138 has adopted a tax rate of $0.26 for 2023, which is a 3 cent reduction from last year’s rate.

2022-10-10: The Board of Directors of Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District No. 138 has adopted a tax rate of $0.29 for the 2022 tax year, which is a reduction of 3.5 cents from last year’s rate.

2021-10-29: The Board of Directors of Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District No. 138 is pleased to announce that it has reduced its tax rate for 2021. The 2021 rate is $0.325, which is a two and one-half cent reduction from the 2020 tax rate. Since the first time the District levied taxes, the Board has reduced its tax rate by $0.315.

2020-09-21: The Board of Directors of Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District No. 138 is pleased to announce that it has substantially reduced its tax rate for 2020. The 2020 rate is $0.35, which is a six-cent reduction from the 2019 tax rate. Since the first time the District levied taxes, the Board has reduced its tax rate by twenty-eight cents! This year’s six cent reduction was made possible because of a decision by the Board to pay off some of the District’s outstanding bonds early. This is like a homeowner paying off some of their home mortgage early to reduce the payments due. Bonds issued by the District are debt issued to pay for some of the public water and sewer infrastructure in the District. This will allow the District to realize significant savings in the amount of interest paid on these bonds, and the Board of Directors unanimously voted to pass these savings on to its taxpayers.

2019-09-18: The District has levied its 2019 property taxes. The Board is pleased to announce that, according to the Fort Bend Central Appraisal District’s calculated average homestead value, the 2019 tax rate of $0.41 cents will produce a small annual savings of approximately $10.00 to the average homeowner.

2019-08-26: The Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District No. 138 will hold a public hearing on a proposed tax rate for the tax year 2019 on Monday, September 9, 2019 at 12:15 p.m., at the offices of Allen Boone Humphries Robinson LLP located at 3200 Southwest Freeway, Suite 2400, Houston, TX 77027. Your individual taxes may increase or decrease, depending on the change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in taxable value on all other property and the tax rate that is adopted.

The District has levied its 2018 property taxes. The Board is pleased to announce it has reduced the rate from last year. This year’s rate is $0.4086 per $100 of assessed valuation. We are delighted to have been able to slightly reduce taxes to our property owners.

Board of Directors Elections

The next directors election is scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2024. The District anticipates contracting with Fort Bend County to conduct the election and to use the regular County polling places for the election.

Applications for a place on the ballot may be filed from January 17, 2024, to 5:00 p.m. local time on February 16, 2024. For information about the requirements for filing for candidacy for a position on the Board, please visit the Texas Secretary of State’s candidate website, at https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/candidates/index.shtml.
